It is not possible to change a client's legal form between a business client type (such as a Limited Company) and an individual client type (such as Self-Assessment) in BrightClient. These are fundamentally different client record types and cannot be converted from one to the other.
If your client's circumstances have changed — for example, they have ceased trading as a limited company and now operate as a sole trader or self-assessment individual — you will need to create a new individual client record for them. Depending on the situation, you can then either:
Close the previous business client record if the company is no longer active and no further work is required against it, or Continue to maintain both records if there is ongoing work against the limited company (for example, filing final accounts or handling a period that overlaps the change)
Your accounting or practice management workflow will determine which approach is most appropriate for your specific scenario.
