Overview: BrightClient does not allow you to convert a client between a business client type (such as a Limited Company) and an individual client type (such as Self-Assessment). These are fundamentally different record types and a new client record will need to be created.
What you need to do:
If your client's circumstances have changed , for example, they have ceased trading as a limited company and now operate as a sole trader or self-assessment individual, you will need to create a new individual client record for them.
Depending on your situation, you can then either:
- Close the previous business client record if the company is no longer active and no further work is required
- Maintain both records if there is ongoing work against the limited company, such as filing final accounts or handling a period that overlaps the change
Your practice workflow will determine which approach is most appropriate for your situation.
